Wind energy has been something many people have not yet realized its full potential. Unfortunately, the wind power system has not reached the status of becoming a regular power system. However, the good news is that the concept is picking up.  It is usually solar energy that is known to be the premier alternative energy source.  Many people are are starting to teach themselves how to build a diy solar panel.  What most people don’t know is that it is equally as easy and cost effective to build a wind turbine.

Why should we care so much about wind power? Wind power makes sense in these times when the demand far exceeds the supply. The way we produce electricity is not only from non-renewable sources, but it is hurting our planet in so many ways. Wind power is advantageous is many ways:

Free source of energy – The wind power makes use of wind energy which is absolutely free, thus saving the non-renewable sources of energy for longer.

No environmental hazards – The generation of wind power is extremely environment-friendly. It does not release any harmful gasses into the air such as other non renewable energy sources we use for our needs.

Cost-effective – Once you get the initial costs of a wind energy system out of the way, you won’t be paying much to generate this electricity. Moreover, there remains no worry of sky-rocketing electricity bills. You could even learn how to build a windmill to cut costs even more!.

Self-dependent source – You are able to be your own energy producer not having to rely on other utility companies to supply you with power.

So how does power come from wind?

Wind turbines are the mechanisms that creates the power out of wind energy.  A wind turbine converts wind energy into mechanical energy for mechanical work. Such a wind turbine is generally referred to as a windmill. A wind generator is then used to take the mechanical energy converted by the wind turbine to be converted into electrical energy for household usage.

What can we use wind power for?
